The entire OET Exam is split into four sections, the Listening Section, which is on 50 minutes in duration and is formed from 3 parts; The Reading Section, which is for hour and divided into 3 parts; the Writing Section, which is profession specific and requires candidates to write down a letter of advice and eventually the last section; The Speaking Section that needs the candidate to enact a setting from the healthcare environment.

OET Exam Categorization

Listening

Duration: 45 minutes

The Listening subsection is divided into 3 parts that test the candidates listening capabilities in various formats.

Reading

Duration: 60 minutes

The Reading subsection is divided into 3 parts that test the candidates reading capabilities in various formats.

Speaking

Duration: 20 minutes

The Speaking subsection is profession-specific and requires candidates to enact a role-play from the healthcare environment.

Duration: 45 minutes

The Writing subsection is profession-specific and requires candidates to write a letter of reference.

OET Listening Section

With a complete duration of 45 minutes, the Listening subtest consists of a complete of 42 questions divided into 3 parts. Candidates would each hear the recorded speech once and would be expected to answer the questions while at it. The total duration of the exam would come with handling topics of generic healthcare interests across all healthcare professions. 

Part A (Consultation Extracts)

For the primary task, healthcare professionals would be required to spot specific information during a consultation. Candidates would be required to finish the health care provider notes from taking note of the 2 recorded health professional­ patient consultations. 

Part B (Short Workplace Extracts)

For the second task, candidates would be required to concentrate to multiple recorded extracts that would range from team briefings, handovers, to health professional­ patient dialogues and answer one multiple­ choice question for each extract. In the second part, the candidate is tested on identifying details of short extracts from the healthcare workplace.

Part C (Presentation Extracts)

The third and final task of the Listening section would require candidates to concentrate to multiple recorded presentations or interviews on a variety of accessible healthcare topics and answer multiple-choice questions for each extract.

OET Reading Section

With a complete duration of hour, the Reading section is formed from 42 questions, divided into 3 parts. Candidates would be required to answer the question of generic healthcare ­related topics.

Part A (Expeditious Reading)

For the first task, candidates would be required to read four short essays and locate specific information from the texts. The essays provided to the candidates would be associated with general healthcare topics. The questions could vary from match the subsequent, sentence completion to short answer questions

Part B (Careful Reading)

For the second task, candidates would tend multiple short texts associated with generic healthcare topics and candidates would be required to spot the most points and answer multiple-choice questions. The essays can include topics starting from policy guidelines, hospital guides, manuals, emails, memos to internal communication.

Part C (Careful Reading)

For the third and last task, concerning the Reading section, candidates would be required to spot the detailed meaning Page 1 of the subject provided to them and answer multiple questions for the same.

OET Writing Section

With a complete duration of 45 minutes, the Writing section requires the candidate to write down a letter, usually a letter of reference in his/her field of specialty. The candidate would be given background information to his task which he may or might not incorporate into his reference letter. This particular task is profession­ specific, hence while a nurse would need to write a letter specific to nursing a dentist would be required to write down a reference letter specific to dentistry.

OET Speaking Section

With a complete duration of 20 minutes, candidates are required to individually enact their professional role in real life scenarios during a professional healthcare environment. A profession specific exercise, candidates are required to role-play their profession while the panelist plays a patient for the first part, and the roles are reversed in the latter. Candidates are given 3 minutes to organize for every side before the beginning of every act. The role-plays are basically supported mock workplace situations that reflect the mood of the healthcare environment. The candidates would be given enough background information to prepare for their role-play sessions.

A. Preparation is key. Candidates are advised to start out early as this is able to give them ample time to line time aside
for revision of the study material. As the saying goes, nobody size fits all. Hence, there is no set method that would

home version of the OET test by the end of the year.

A. Candidates are advised to take their valid passports as ID for the exam. National ID and Aadhar Card are also
acceptable on request and candidates are required to fill out a form during g the time of registration.

A. The duration of the total OET test takes about 3 hours and 20 minutes.

A. OET does not have a good score benchmark. However, candidates are expected to comfortably recover over the
350 marks in each subtest to be eligible for the simplest opportunities. Candidates are always advised to see with the
many council or board to remain up to date with the present demand of the market.
